Those who join rallies must follow traffic rules, says KL top cop

KUALA LUMPUR: Members of the public who want to join any rally in the city must adhere to road laws and regulations.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid said the police detected some individuals who joined a rally by riding motorcycles while carrying banners.

“Carrying and waving banners while riding motorcycles is against the law as it endangers other road users.

“We will still conduct traffic operations in the city to ensure that everyone adheres to traffic regulations,” he told a press conference after attending KL police monthly assembly on Tuesday (Oct 24).

Comm Allaudeen said he was aware that several parties were holding rallies this week.

“We acknowledge the right to gather but it must be in accordance with the laws.

“Some organisers did give us notice while others did not,” he added.

Commenting on a gathering for Palestine that would be attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Bukit Jalil on Tuesday (Oct 24) night, Comm Allaudeen said the police had made ample preparations.

“We will ensure that the event runs smoothly,” he said.
