Jacob Elordi Reveals How Little He Knew About Elvis Before Playing Him In ‘Priscilla,’ Talks Auditioning
Jacob Elordi brings Elvis Presley to life in Sofia Coppola‘s new movie Priscilla, but it turns out that he didn’t know much about the King of Rock before he was offered the role.
The 26-year-old Euphoria actor admitted that Elvis wasn’t someone he had ever imagined playing, adding that the experience was “a little bit terrifying” while on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Part of that might stem from the fact that he wasn’t an Elvis fan. In fact, his one frame of reference was what he learned about him in a Disney movie.
“The most I knew of Elvis was in Lilo & Stitch,” Jacob admitted to Jimmy Fallon. If you forgot, Lilo was a huge fan of Elvis in the animated Disney movie and even dressed her pet Stitch up as the King.
He continued, reflecting on his audition, which he did not expect to nail.
“Sofia had sent me these sides that said Elvis, and I just of just was like, ‘There’s just no chance that this is happening,’” he recalled. “So I watched this clip of him when he came back from the army in Germany. And I read the lines for like 15 minutes and then shot two takes and, you know, not thinking that it would go anywhere.”
Clearly, something resonated!
Priscilla hits theaters on Friday, November 3rd. See him in action in the trailer.
If you missed it, Jacob recently opened up about his co-star, Cailee Spaenys, who plays Priscilla Presley in the movie.
