Jay Chou Lookalike Causes Drama At… Jay Chou Concert

How cool would it have been if the 44-year-old Mandopop King had invited his doppelganger on stage?

Taiwanese pop star Jay Chou has a doppelganger who sells egg rolls and another who is a fried noodle hawker. Hey, even Singapore’s very own Swee Choon Dim Sum has a Jay lookalike.

This time, another lookalike was reported to have turned up at Jay Chou’s recent concert in Shanghai, causing a stir usually reserved for Jay himself.

“I am not a celebrity!” said the lookalike.

Dubbed “Copycat Jay Chou”, the latest dead ringer of the Mandopop King had many people jostling to get a wefie with him.

Some even said this bagged them bragging rights of attending a concert with Jay himself.

Though the doppelganger initially didn’t seem to mind taking photos, he could be seen helplessly explaining multiple times, “I am not an Internet celebrity. I’m just here after getting off work!”

A security guard was also seen pulling the doppelganger’s hoodie over his head, in an attempt to conceal his identity and put an end to the madness.

After the incident, netizens unfairly came out to criticise the lookalike, saying he was there to steal Jay’s spotlight while others said it would have been better to put on a hat to avoid the scene from happening again.
