Dr Aliakbar Gulasan is new Sabah PAS chief

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah PAS’ sole assemblyman Dr Aliakbar Gulasan has been appointed the party’s state commissioner for the term 2023 to 2025.

Sabah PAS said the decision was made after a meeting by the party’s national working committee on Monday (Oct 30) to appoint new members as well as state and Federal Territories commissioners.

When contacted on Tuesday (Oct 31), Dr Aliakbar said he will maintain good relations with political parties and non-governmental organisations in the state.

“We will bring integration and unity for all,” he said, thanking the central leadership for entrusting him with the role.

He replaced Mohd Aminuddin Aling, who had held the post since 2011.

Dr Aliakbar was one of the six nominated assemblymen appointed by the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah-led state government after it won the Sept 26, 2020 snap state elections.

This was the first time PAS obtained representation in the Sabah state assembly, which was expanded from 60 to 79 seats (including six nominated seats) after that election.
