Popular Chinese Influencer Jhony Huang, 34, Drowns In Bali; Was On Birthday Trip With Wife

The cosplayer, who has over five million followers on social media, was swept away by waves at Petitenget Beach on the day he was supposed to turn 35.

Reports that popular Chinese influencer and cosplayer Jhony Huang Xiaofeng, 34, had drowned in Bali were splashed all over Chinese social media on Wednesday (Nov 8).

According to reports, the body of a 34-year-old male with the initials XFJ was found floating on the waters of Petitenget Beach that morning.

The man was later confirmed to be “Xiao Feng Jhony” after the Bali Denpasar District Office verified his identity through his passport.

Jhony, who has over five million followers on social media, and his fellow influencer wife Karina Melnychuk were in Bali to celebrate the former’s birthday on Tuesday (Nov 7), which was unfortunately the day he drowned.

Reports said a total of three tourists, which included Jhony and Karina, were swept away by waves when the incident occurred.

While Karina and the other tourist were rescued on the spot, Jhony was nowhere to be found. Rescue efforts were said to have lasted for a while before they were called off that night due to bad weather conditions.

Rescuers then found Jhony’s body the next morning.

Pictures of the rescue mission were later circulated online.

In the photos, paramedics were seen carrying Jhony’s body out of the water and onto a stretcher with Karina behind them.

In another picture, Karina was shown hugging Jhony’s body in the ambulance.

According to the owner of the resort Jhony and Karina were staying at, the couple checked in the night before and had headed for the beach the next day.

Shortly after, they received news that Jhony had gone missing after he allegedly swam too far into the sea.

At that time, a staff from Jhony’s management agency also shared that they could not contact him and had no ways to reach Karina as well.
