“I couldn’t push him away no matter how hard I tried,” said Maggie.

It’s been 17 years since Hong Kong screen goddess Maggie Cheung retired from showbiz, but public interest in the 59-year-old has not waned.

Fans rejoiced when she started her first social media account on Douyin last year, and were thrilled when she made her on screen comeback in September, albeit in a commercial.

Recently, fans unearthed a video of Maggie on Asia Television’s (ATV)’s Celebrity Talk Show in 1989 where she shared about her experience filming kissing scenes.

Though Maggie had only been in showbiz for five years at that time, she had locked lips with many A-list actors like Andy LauLeslie CheungChow Yun Fat, and Alan Tam, by then.

When host James Wong asked which actor was the worst to kiss on screen, she replied, “I’ve never encountered anyone with bad breath, but there was one person who didn’t stop kissing even after the director yelled ‘cut’.”

Excited, James probed her for a name.

Maggie hesitated for a moment before saying with a laugh, “It was Chow Yun Fat!”

“He pretended he couldn’t hear [the director],” she joked.

“I couldn’t push him away no matter how hard I tried. I think he was too engrossed in the scene,” she added.

Fat Gor was so engrossed in the scene, she couldn’t push him away.
Though she did not mention which movie it was, Fat Gor and Maggie starred in 1986’s Lost Romance and 1987 comedy Romancing Star.

Could this be the scene in Lost Romance where Fat Gor got too carried away?

Maggie shared that she felt awkward the first few times she filmed kissing scenes but got over it eventually.

“Maybe I got used to it over time,” she said.
