Ipoh City Council encouraging ratepayers to settle assessment via digital app
IPOH: The Ipoh City Council hopes payment of assessments using the digital application would be fully utilised by 2027, says Datuk Rumaizi Baharin.
The mayor said this was part of the council’s Strategic Plan 2021-2030.
He said as a start, the council has stopped sending out physical bills to taxpayers for the July-Dec term.
“The council has developed a digital application known as DMBI (assessment tax module) in January.
“The development of this mobile application is an environmentally friendly method for users to access, receive, check and pay assessment tax bills regardless of time and place,” he said when launching the assessment tax module application at Dewan Sultan Azlan Shah here on Wednesday (Nov 15).
Rumaizi said through the DMBI application, registered users can make online payments, which was safer and faster where a notification system was also provided as a reminder to users if there was a new bill issued to them.
“As an improvement in the future, this application will also provide an application for payment of tax arrears in installments to ease the burden of taxpayers,” he added.
In the meantime, Rumaizi said, the results of using the DMBI application showed an increase in the collection of payment receipts as compared to the conventional method.
“As of today, as many as 28,000 of these applications have been downloaded through the Google Playstore and Appstore applications,” he said.
He said, Ipoh residents who make annual assessment tax payments without arrears at any of the council’s payment channelw and download the application, register, and be eligible to participate in the 2024 Lucky Draw.
“A total of 30 main prizes are for grabs, including the main prize, a Perodua Axia, four motorcycles, a 65-inch smart television,and digital home furnishings with a total value of RM99,000,” he said
