“Everyone Thought My Career Was Over”: Edison Chen When Asked About His 2008 Sex Photos Scandal… Again

Contrary to popular belief, the actor was working all the time then.

Edison Chen’s sex photos scandal in 2008 was so earth shattering, it still remains fresh in the minds of many people 15 years later.

While the 43-year-old Canadian-born Hong Kong star usually declines to discuss it further, he recently surprised everyone by responding to questions about it.

Edison was in Taiwan for his fashion brand CLOT’s 20th anniversary event when he was, once again, asked about the infamous scandal.

Surprisingly, the star, who was accompanied by with his six-year-old daughter Alaia, gave a response was that way more uplifting that we ever imagined.

“Maybe in 2008 everyone thought [my career] was over. But I didn’t give up, neither was I lost. Everyone who looked at my IG thought that I was on a break every day, but actually I was working all the time,” he asserted.

And to the actor, who’s now married to Chinese supermodel Qin Shupei, 34, his most important job now is to be a dad.

This is, however, not the first time Edison publicly addressed the scandal.

When British media SHOWstudio asked about it in 2016, Edison said: “When it comes to sex, I don’t think I’ve done anything wrong.”

“I truly believe that this incident happened because I didn’t spare a thought about the environment, I only thought about myself and misjudged the situation. I didn’t respect the culture of the place I was living and working in,” he explained.

He continued: “The whole world is having sex behind closed doors. I don’t think I did anything particularly wrong in that situation. The only thing I did wrong was that I didn’t handle the problem appropriately based on the culture.”

Edison also claimed that he was misunderstood by the public.

“I don’t think people were listening to what I had to say, they were just looking for groundbreaking news,” he said.

The good thing is, Edison managed to find the silver lining amidst the drama.

“To be honest my life became better. That was a very important part of my life, it knocked me down but I came back stronger and I’ve grown,” he assured.
