This Is How Squid Game’s Lee Jung-Jae Looked When He Lost 15kg and Went Without Sleep For 2 Days For A Role
No wonder he’s so good at Squid Game.
No wonder he’s so good at Squid Game.
Now that Netflix’s Squid Game-inspired gameshow, the creatively titled Squid Game: The Challenge, is trending worldwide, news about the K-drama’s stars are making their rounds on the internet again.
Before Squid Game made Lee Jung-Jae a household name, he was already a widely known actor in his home country of South Korea for The Housemaid and The Thieves.
It was recently revealed that the Emmy winner really went all in to play a resistance fighter in the 2015 film, Assassination, employing a somewhat brutal form of method acting.
It was said that he refused to use a body double and went on to lose a whopping 15kg for a scene.
Apparently, Jung-jae’s weight loss was attributed to only eating vegetables for his meals, while choosing soda during beer-drinking sessions with the crew during the filming for the movie.
To fully immerse himself into the role, it was also reported that Jung-jae went without sleep for 48 hours before some scenes to portray the character’s fragile state of mind.
Yikes! Now we wonder how he prepped for his other projects.
