TVB Star Benjamin Yuen On Having Ghosts In His Hotel Room: “Sometimes I Hear Them Singing To Me In Cantonese”

Hong Kong star Benjamin Yuen, 42, has been busy of late.

Firstly, he and wife Bowie Cheung just became parents. The actor revealed on Monday (Nov 20) that his wife gave birth to their first child, a boy, last Friday (Nov 17).

The actor is also working on two new dramas — Fan Hei Ying Xiong (反黑英雄) and Forensic Heroes 6 — and has been shuttling between Hong Kong and Shenzhen for filming.

Unfortunately for him, his hotel stays in China haven’t exactly been pleasant. In fact, they’ve been downright creepy.

Benjamin recently took to social media to share about the strange encounters.

Posting a snap of his hotel room, he wrote: “I don’t know why, but some friends like to wake me up in the wee hours of the morning. To prove their existence, they’ll play music on my phone and create the sounds of items dropping. Sometimes I hear them singing to me in Cantonese!”

Yes, those ‘friends’ he was referring to are ghosts.

Benjamin would later reveal in an interview that he has been staying in a haunted hotel room for quite some time. He added that he would be woken up in the middle of the night and during the early hours of the morning by “strange sounds”.

He said: “This morning, I was woken up by a ‘friend’. I was supposed to wake up at 7am, but they started disturbing my sleep at 5, 6am. I woke up and sat there for a while, had a cup of tea, then left to have breakfast.”

In situations like this, we’re sure the majority of us would waste no time in requesting a room change. Benjamin seems to be… rather chill.

He knew something was up when he started hearing “strange sounds from the wall”, and “the voice of someone singing”.

“I woke up the minute I realised what was going on. I usually go to bed after switching off all the lights, and I didn’t want to open my eyes. After that, I started to shiver, and it made me wonder if I was dreaming. Two days ago, a song started playing from my phone in the middle of the night. It was really weird, and I immediately turned it off!” he recalled.

Anyone getting a ghostly vibe from this hotel room?
