Govt remains intact despite Opposition’s ‘monthly’ takeover attempts, says Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR: The unity government remains intact even though there are ‘back door’ (tebuk atap) attempts by the Opposition to take over power almost every month, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“Presently, the ‘roof’ is made of concrete… The relationship among political parties is good and there is no infighting.

“This is despite attempts made in July and August but we are focused on uplifting Malaysia’s status,” said the Prime Minister during the closing ceremony of the Malaysia Madani government anniversary programme at Bukit Jalil here on Sunday (Dec 10).

He added that there have not been problems stemming from political parties’ policies over the past year and any “desperate” attempts by the Opposition to take over will not work.

This was echoed by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who said all the 18 political parties in the government are able to give suggestions on implementation and all representatives support Anwar’s leadership.

“The government remains intact and strong,” he said.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadilah Yusof reiterated that the government’s focus was on the people, the economy and the administration of the country.

He urged the people to continue giving their support to the government.
