Thinaah honoured to receive award from Selangor Sultan

PETALING JAYA: Shuttler M. Thinaah is aiming for a fresh start in the New Year after enjoying a royal touch.

Yesterday, Thinaah, who form the national No. 1 women’s doubles partnership with Pearly Tan, received the Bintang Kecemerlangan Sukan (BKS) award in conjunction with Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah’s 78th birthday.

“I’m very honoured to get this award from the Sultan of Selangor on his birthday.

“I was initially very nervous but at the same time really happy to receive this award.

“I hope I can contribute more in the future,” said Thinaah.

Thinaah and Pearly have ended the season as the world No. 12 pair in the world after a topsy-turvy run.

They did well to reach the finals of the Malaysian Masters and Hong Kong Open but had to skips a few tournaments due to injury to Pearly.

Thinaah is eager to make a strong comeback with Pearly at the Malaysian Open from Jan 9-14 at Axiata Arena.

“It’s a new year and a new season and I hope to start it well especially on home ground in the Malaysian Open next month. Definitely excited to get back on court especially in front of our many home fans,” added Thinaah.

The duo are on the right track to qualify for the Olympic Games in Paris next year.
