Man turns aggressive at handphone shop

MUAR: Unsatisfied with the service given, a man made a fuss towards a shopkeeper that resulted in them throwing things at each other.

A one-minute-and-40-second clip of the incident, taken from the handphone shop’s closed circuit television, has gone viral on social media.

In the video, the man is heard complaining about a faulty screen protector before trying to fix the problem himself.

During the exchange of words, the customer is also heard throwing vulgarities at the shopkeeper, who kept telling him that he had done it wrongly.

He then got mad and grabbed something on the counter to throw at the woman, who retaliated in the same manner.

A child is heard crying in the background.

Muar OCPD Asst Comm Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said both the 45-year-old customer and 24-year-old shop assistant had lodged separate police reports over the incident in Pagoh here around 1.10pm on Tuesday (Dec 12).

“The unsavoury exchange is believed to be caused by the customer’s dissatisfaction towards the service given to him.

“It (The incident) escalated when the customer turned aggressive towards the shop assistant,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (Dec 13).

He said both sides have been called up to assist investigation for causing hurt without a weapon under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to one year or a maximum fine of RM2,000, or both upon conviction.

The incident is also framed under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 for uttering vulgarities, he added.
