Bowie Tsang Buys S$857K Apartment For Mum After Viewing It For Just 5 Mins

Chump change for the 50-year-old Taiwanese host, who once made a cool S$4.28mil from selling a commercial property in Hong Kong she owned with her dad Eric Tsang.

It seems Taiwanese award-winning host Bowie Tsang, 50, is doing very well financially. Bowie is the daughter of Hong Kong star Eric Tsang.

Her mum, Taiwanese actressWang Meihua, 67, recently revealed that Bowie had bought her a new apartment as a retirement home earlier this year.

Meihua, popularly known as Bao Ma, took to Facebook to share snaps of her new abode, which she described as a “Muji-style high-end private nursing home”. She also said she has been very happy living there the past few months.

It is a brand new development

According to Bao Ma, she had been looking to buy a small, cosy home for her retirement for many years, but nothing caught her eye.

When she saw the new development, she was immediately drawn to it and took Bowie to view it.

Bowie loved the place too and they immediately got in touch with the developer.

“Within five minutes, we negotiated the price and my daughter took out her credit card and paid the deposit,” said Bao Ma.

“Afer making payment, my daughter turned to me and said, ‘Mum, please live happily here and enjoy the retirement life you want.'”

So baller!

Bao Ma’s Muji-style home

Bao Ma shared that the Muji-style house, which is decked out in lots of wood, was designed by Bowie.

Her favourite part about the apartment is its convenient location, with department stores, convenience stores, market, hospital, bus stops, and a subway station nearby.

According to reports, the apartment is situated in the affluent Tianmu neighbourhood in Taipei and is valued at over NT$20mil (S$857K).

Bao Ma had originally planned to get a place in Minsheng district where Bowie lives, but could not find anything suitable.

In an interview with ETtoday, Bowie shared that she was surprised by how high property prices are in Taipei.

When asked if the apartment was within her budget, she said she did not set one as her mum “knows her limits and would not go too far”.

While she declined to reveal the monthly mortgage, she said it would take around 20 to 30 years to pay off.

Bowie and dad Eric made a killing in real estate

Well, the sum is probably a small fraction of Bowie’s portfolio, considering how much she made in real estate investment with dad Eric.

According to reports, in 2002, father and daughter jointly purchased a commercial property in Mongkok for NT$16.8mil (S$719.2K), which they rented out for almost two decades.

In 2021, they sold it to a consortium for more than NT$110mil (S$4.71mil), earning a sweet NT$100mil (S$4.28mil) in profit.
