Twenty-one-year-old Indonesian RM17,600 for contraband possession in Brunei
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Twenty-one-year-old Indonesian national was fined BND5,000 (RM17,600) on Wednesday for possessing smuggled cigarettes.
Magistrate Fatin Fikriyah Rosli ordered for Yuki Erdi to serve five months’ jail in default of payment.
The customs prosecutor revealed that their enforcement team raided his residence at Kampong Padnunok in Jalan Lamunin on January 15 at 11.05pm.
Authorities found the defendant in possession of six packets and 14 sticks of undeclared cigarettes.
The court also ordered the contraband destroyed. – Borneo Bulletin/ANN
