Hong Kong film legend Chow Yun Fat was no doubt the most popular runner at yesterday’s (Jan 21) Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon.
The 68-year-old, who participated in the 10km run last year, finished the 21km half marathon in an impressive 2 hours 26 minutes 8 seconds.
The moment Fat Got entered Victoria Park where the finishing line is, excitement filled the air.
Looking dashing in his signature all-black running gear and shades, Fat Gor smiled as he crossed the finishing line to cheers.
Though he looked exhausted, the ever-obliging star went on take selfies with fans and fellow runners.

Though his timing was an improvement from the 2hr 27min he clocked in last November’s Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Half Marathon, Fat Gor was not satisfied with his performance as it fell short of his target by 4 mins.
He joked that his wife will deduct his allowance.
“She will deduct HK$400 (S$68) — HK$100 (S$17) for each minute. Didn’t meet the standard,” he told the media.

Nevertheless, Fat Gor will continue to train and hopes to finish the half marathon in 2hr 15min next year.
“I will be Hong Kong’s Forrest Gump and run around the world,” he quipped.
When asked if he intends to attempt the 42km full marathon, Fat Gor replied: “If I can finish the half marathon in two hours, I’ll consider doing the full marathon. If I train hard, I might be able to do it in my 90s.”
