Yanxi Palace Producer Yu Zheng Slammed For Telling Actress, Who Weighs 46kg, To Lose More Weight

Chinese producer and screenwriter Yu Zheng, who’s best known for creating 2018 hit drama Story of Yanxi Palace, is no stranger to controversy.
He’s not one to mince his words and has no qualms about criticising actors on social media.
Recently, he took to Weibo to share photos from upcoming period drama Perfect Match (五福临门) , which he is currently shooting.
Among them was this close-up of Chinese actress Zhao Qing, 22, who is signed to his agency.
In his caption, Yu Zheng stated that despite having slimmed down to 92 pounds (46 kg), he feels Zhao Qing still “looks a bit fat”.
He added that the photo was taken with his iPhone and did not use any beauty filters.
“I think to look good, [she] needs to drop to 85 pounds (42.5kg). Besides not eating snacks and dinner, see what else you can do. I’ll accompany you in losing weight,” he wrote.
Seriously?!
It’s no wonder so many people in showbiz suffer from body dysmorphia.
His remarks triggered a wave of criticism from netizens who slammed Yu Zheng for his distorted sense of beauty.
Many pointed out that Zhao Qing is 1.7 metres tall, and at 46kg, she is already considered underweight.
“Lose more weight? She has a big frame, how else can she lose weight? You can tell her to shave her bones,” and “You want to starve her to death? Can she survive if she is 170cm and 85 pounds?” were some of the comments.
Chinese actress Xu Jiao also weighed in on the matter, posting a pic of Chinese actor Min Jin with sunken cheeks.
“Do you think it looks good when someone is so thin?” she asked.
Xu Jiao also shared a photo she had taken with Zhao Qing in the past, saying: “Zhao is almost half a head taller than me, and at 92 pounds she is already very thin. How warped is it that you want people to drop to 85 pounds?”
