Man detained for allegedly assaulting wife, broke her laptop for not helping with chores

AMPANG: A 36-year-old man was detained for allegedly assaulting his wife and destroying her belongings at their home in Pandan Perdana.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail said the victim, an interior designer, argued with the suspect at their home at about 9.30am on Monday (Jan 29).

“The suspect then destroyed his wife’s laptop before hitting her and injuring her right arm.

“The suspect got angry as his wife refused to help him do household chores,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (Jan 31).

The investigation led police to arrest the suspect at his home at about 6:20pm on Tuesday (Jan 30).

“The suspect, who is jobless, tested negative for drugs, and he did not have any prior criminal record,” he said.

He said the suspect had been remanded until Friday (Feb 2).

“We are investigating under Section 323 of the Penal Code and Section 427 of the same code,” he added.
