Managing director remanded in RM25mil graft probe

KUALA LUMPUR: A managing director of a tractor distribution company has been detained in connection with a suspected graft involving a RM25mil agriculture tractor supply project.

The woman, in her 50s, was remanded until Feb 8.

She was brought to Putrajaya Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday (Feb 6), where Magistrate Irza Zulaikha Rohanuddin issued the remand order.

Sources said the suspect was previously among three individuals detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

The others detained were a marketing general manager and a sales general manager.

“They are believed to be involved in offering and giving bribes to officers at an agriculture company in exchange for the RM25mil project.

“All three were detained between 11pm and 12am on Monday (Feb 5) after they went to MACC headquarters.

“The two other suspects were released on MACC bail while the managing director was remanded,” sources said.

Meanwhile, MACC senior director of Investigation, Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hashim, confirmed the arrests when contacted.

“The other suspects were released on bail due to health factors.

“The case is classified under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009,” he said.
