Kapar crash: Bodies of pilot and co-pilot found

KLANG: Police have found the two bodies in the light aircraft crash at Kampung Tok Muda here.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the remains have yet to be removed from the wreckage due to some difficulties.

He added that authorities, which involve the police, fire and rescue department and public defence department, are still working to take the bodies out from the wreckage.

According to the flight manifest, the Malaysian men were identified as Daniel Yee Hsiang Khoon, 30 and Roshaan Singh Rania, 42.

Yee was believed to be the pilot, while Roshaan was the passenger.

“The plane, weighing about 1,300 kg, crashed and buried as deep as about two metres into the ground,” he told reporters here on Tuesday (Feb 13),” he said and added that the recovery team used a backhoe from the local council to access the wreckage.

“Both bodies will be brought to Klang Hospital for post-mortem and identification by the family members once recovered,” he added.

Comm Hussein also said that both victims were found in the plane’s cockpit.

“The plane is a recreational aircraft. The pilot was an instructor who was attached to a recreational flying club. The passenger was a member of the club,” he said.

Comm Hussein said debris from the aircraft was also found within a 50m radius of the crash site. However, no damage was reported in nearby areas.

About 130 to 150 personnel from various agencies were involved in the operation.

The Air Accident Investigation Bureau, under the Transport Ministry, will investigate the crash.

Comm Hussein said it was estimated that operations would end by tonight.

Also seen near the crash site were the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Director, Selangor police deputy chief and Klang Utara police chief.
