Fans Thought Jacky Cheung Lip-Synced At Shanghai Concert When They Heard His Vocals Before He Started Singing

Even the Heavenly King was taken aback.

Heavenly King Jacky Cheung is known to be one of the best voices of his generation and he never fails to put on a great show, even when he is unwell.

So you can imagine how shocked fans were when they thought the 62-year-old had lip-synced during his 60+ Concert Tour show in Shanghai last week.

While waiting for the intro of his 1995 hit song ‘Sha Na Ai’ to end, Jacky’s vocals came on before he’d even opened his mouth.

The boo-boo left everyone stunned, even the Heavenly King.

Jacky turned to look at his band and gave a sheepish smile before saying awkwardly: “Let’s do it one more time. I’m sorry, can we do it again?”

“I think they [accidentally] played our recording from the rehearsals this afternoon,” he explained.

After checking with his band again, they restarted the song and performed it without a hitch.

After the show, fans took to social media to thank Jacky for being ever the consummate singer and not lip-syncing.

Lip-syncing is not allowed in China as it “deceives the audience” according to a set of regulations imposed on performers by the Chinese government.

Violators can face a maximum fine of 100,000 yuan (S$19K).
