Hongkong’s newest boyband was formed last night at the finale of Asia Super Young talent search, a show that is co-produced by TVB and Youku.
TVB’s general manager Eric Tsang, 70, revealed the band’s name: Loong 9.
Eric went on to explain that the word “Loong” symbolises the Year of the Dragon.
“You guys are formed in the Year of the Dragon. Let the dragon become your crest and we hope you can bring glory to Asia!,” said Eric.
The Asia Super Young was a reality competition that saw 65 male trainees vie for a spot in a nine-member boyband in Hong Kong.
Basically, it’s TVB and Youku’s version of South Korea’s Produce 101 or China’s Youth With You.
Before the official formation of the group, the top nine contestants were revealed by the show’s celebrity judge Korean singer Rain.
Scroll down to meet the nine members of Loong 9 (In order of ranking): Ollie, Ely, Archie, Kong Son Hei, Liang Shi Yu, Albin, Sean, Hugo and Felix.
