Regent of Johor receives audience from state, fed govt on land checkpoints

JOHOR BARU: The Regent of Johor has held an audience with top officials from the state government and federal agencies to discuss operations at Johor’s two land checkpoints.

Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim received the audience led by Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi here on Tuesday (March 26).

According to a post on Tunku Ismail’s Facebook page, various issues involving the relevant departments were presented and discussed at the audience.

“The main areas of focus were immigration operations, daily traffic processing and average waiting time for immigration checks.

“There were also discussions about the proposed improvements at Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) and Sultan Abu Bakar Complex (KSAB),” it read.

The two checkpoints in Johor were dubbed the country’s busiest as an average of 350,000 daily travellers, mostly for work, since the border reopened on April 1, 2022 after the Covid-19 pandemic.

Johor state secretary Tan Sri Dr Hj Azmi Rohani, Johor public works, transport, infrastructure and communications committee chairman Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh were present at the audience.

Also in attendance were Johor Immigration director Baharuddin Tahir, Home Ministry’s BSI and KSAB chief operating officer Suraya Hanim Sith, BSI immigration head Adam Abu Hanipah, BSI immigration deputy head (control) R. Vimala, KSAB immigration head Siti Hajar Mohd and KSAB immigration deputy head Ahmad Atturmudzy Mohd Yusof.
