Other senior cops likely to be involved in KL graft case, says MACC chief
PUTRAJAYA: Graft investigators are not ruling out the possibility of the involvement of other senior police officers in the case of a police officer arrested for allegedly taking bribes to overlook certain illegal activities, says Tan Sri Azam Baki.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner said this was being looked into as investigators are combing through the case.
“I believe that he was not acting alone. There could be (other senior officers) involved. We are looking into that now,” he said at a press conference here on Friday (March 29).

Azam said investigators were also in the midst of determining the amount of bribes the officer allegedly received and how he spent the money.
“Although we have seized RM1.2mil, we want to find out the actual amount.
“We are also tracing those who are said to have paid him as well as others who received the money,” he added.
On Sunday (March 24), a senior police officer from the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters was detained for allegedly taking bribes.
The officer, in his 40s, allegedly accepted bribes to protect illicit activities including gambling, prostitution and gangsterism in the city.
MACC also seized RM1.2mil in cash from several properties allegedly linked to the police officer.
