Foreign Ministry closely monitoring situation in Taiwan after 7.2 magnitude quake

PETALING JAYA: No Malaysians were reported to be affected by the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that struck Hualien in Taiwan’s east coast area at 7.58am (local time) on Wednesday (April 3) so far, says the Foreign Ministry.

In a statement, Wisma Putra said that it was monitoring the situation closely through the Malaysian Friendship and Trade Centre in Taipei.

“Malaysia extends its deepest sympathies to the victims and families affected by the earthquake,” it said in the statement.

Wisma Putra urges Malaysians in the affected areas to stay vigilant and follow the latest updates and guidance by the local authorities.
