“He’s Now 5000”: Netizen Gives Taiwanese Rocker Wu Bai, Whose Name Sounds Like 500, New Nickname After Weight Gain

Taiwanese rocker Wu Bai must be eating well and enjoying life these days.

In a video circulating on social media, the 56-year-old star was seen performing Sarah Chen’s 1989 hit song ‘Awakening Dream’ at a concert.

Instead of actually singing the song, all Wu Bai did was sing the first two words, which were “You say…”, of each sentence before getting the audience to sing the rest of the line.

And while they were at it, the rock star, who was visibly sweating buckets in his green suit, was panting and struggling to catch his breath.

Netizens couldn’t help but tease Wu Bai for making his fans do most of the work.

“I’ll go to Wu Bai’s concert regularly to sing to myself,” laughed one netizen while another joked: “People buy tickets to hear him sing but his fans are so lucky, they get to sing for their idol.”

Netizens were also very tickled by Wu Bai’s new look.

“He’s now 5000,” joked one netizen, referring to how the star, whose name means 500 in Mandarin, has ‘multiplied’ in size.

People are also saying that he now looks a lot like Taiwanese comedian Kang Kang.

We mean… as long as he’s healthy and happy right?
