No to violence: Man Utd stars Onana, Garnacho send well-wishes to Faisal Halim
KUALA LUMPUR: There has been an outpouring of support and well-wishes for acid attack victim Faisal Halim, including from Manchester United stars Andre Onana and Alejandro Garnacho.
In a 26-second video posted on various platforms, Manchester United players wished Faisal Halim a speedy recovery from the attack on May 5 which left the Selangor FC winger with fourth-degree burns.
Onana and Garnacho spoke on behalf of the Red Devils, saying that the Harimau Malaya star must “stay strong” and “keep fighting”.
“Hey Faisal, we heard what happened. We feel you and we are with you. We know it is a tough situation for you and your family. Alejandro and I want to wish you all the best during your recovery. Stay strong, we are with you,” he said.
“We are all together, keep fighting my brother,” he said.
Garnacho, who was seated next to Onana in the video, also urged the Penang-born Faisal to “stay strong”.
National winger Faisal, who is also known as Mickey, was attacked with acid at a shopping mall in Damansara. The reason for the attack is still uncertain.
Images of his injuries went viral on social media with many shocked at the attack.
His Harimau Malaya teammate Akhyar Rashid was also robbed in Kuala Terengganu and suffered cuts and bruises on May 2.
On May 7, former national captain Safiq Rahim, 36, escaped unhurt after two men broke the rear windscreen of his car in Johor Baru.
Police have arrested two suspects believed to have attacked Faisal.
