Salak Selatan construction site shut down over aedes mosquito breeding
A CONSTRUCTION site in Kuala Lumpur has been shut down for 14 days after the discovery of eight Aedes mosquito breeding grounds in its vicinity.
The site was shut down during an integrated operation at Taman Naga Emas, Salak Selatan, in Kuala Lumpur.
Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Mazlan said a RM500 fine would be imposed for each breeding ground found at the site.
“It will be closed for a fortnight, and the health department will conduct another inspection then,” he said during a press conference in the midst of the operation.
He added that the contractor could apply for a reduction in the closure period, on the condition that the area had been cleaned up and cleared of mosquitoes.
The operation involved the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) and eight agencies, including the Kuala Lumpur Health Department, the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), and the police.
