247 police trainees graduate from basic policing training, says CCID director

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 247 police trainee sergeants or cadet sergeants have graduated from their basic policing training.

All of them, who are Diploma holders aged between 22 and 26, successfully went through nine months of training, which started on Sept 10 last year.

Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) director Comm Datuk Seri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf said all 247 cadet sergeants should focus on two aspects as basics in beginning their career in the police force.

“The first focus must be on integrity and good governance that can be applied in every aspect of their daily lives and actions.

“This element must be their main barrier in preventing their involvement in any form of corruption and abuse of power.

“The second focus is carrying out the government’s policy for the betterment of the people and forsaking personal interest. It also consists of taking actions that are in line with the national interest,” he said after the graduation ceremony at the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) on Friday (June 7).

Comm Ramli said the success of graduating from basic police training will mark a good beginning for the trainees as members of the police force.

“All trainee sergeants must ensure that they prioritise integrity and public interest in their work and daily life.

“Adhering to the chain of command must also be a priority,” he said.

Comm Ramli said the graduates are expected to fill in vacancies in critical departments including the CCID, CID, Narcotic Crime Investigation Department (NCID) and Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department.

“Their roles as assistant investigating officers (AIO) are needed given the increase in cases.

“The injection in youth is hoped to increase productivity as well,” he said.
