Malaysia needs at least seven goals against Taiwan, says Pan-gon

KELANA JAYA: National football coach Kim Pan-gon (pic) has urged his Harimau Malaya players to score at least seven goals against Taiwan in their final World Cup 2026-Asian Cup 2027 second-round qualifying match at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Tuesday (June 11).

In the pre-match press conference at Wisma FAM, the South Korean coach said scoring that many goals would aid their goal difference, as they also hoped for Oman to beat Kyrgyzstan in the other game.

“We drew against Kyrgyzstan (1-1). That made us feel a little under pressure because we had to score lots of goals, at least seven,” he said.

“We spoke about the last game. We tried to go there to win. Realistically, it is tough to beat a side that is ranked 100th, while we are 138th. And it was an away game. Our away record is not good but we tried to win there.
