Three men arrested for possessing dangerous weapons and police equipment in Ipoh
IPOH: Police believe to have solved several robberies and police impersonator cases in Ipoh with the arrest of three men for possessing dangerous weapons and police equipment.
Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the arrests were made on Friday (June 21)at about 6.10am in the Sungai Senam area.
He said that police arrived at the location based on information from the public about a suspicious-looking vehicle in the area.
“Police arrested the three. A physical check and search of the vehicle discovered that they had dangerous weapons, as well as illegal police equipment.
“Initial urine test found the three, aged from 27 to 37, positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine,” he said in a statement on Saturday (June 22).
He said all three have previous criminal and drug-related offences.
“The case will be investigated under Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958, and Section 89 (A) Police Act 1967,” he added.
ACP Abang Zainal Abidin said police believed they had solved several robberies and police impersonator cases in the Ipoh district with the arrest.
He advised the public not to purchase dangerous weapons and illegally purchase equipment for policemen.
“Legal action will be taken against those caught doing so.
“Any information regarding any criminal activities can be forwarded via the district control centre at 05-2542222 or any nearest police station,” he added.
