Nilai religious centre suspected of illegal acts being investigated, say police

SEREMBAN: Police are probing a religious-cum-spiritual centre near here for allegedly organising illegal activities, says Dep Comm Datuk Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof.

The Negri Sembilan police chief said a report was lodged on April 26 alleging that such activities were being carried out at the centre in Nilai.

“We are probing the report. We hope the public will not resort to making speculations regarding the case as this could jeopardise investigations,” he said in a statement.

DCP Ahmd Dzaffir said the case was being probed under Section 504 of the Penal Code for intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of the peace.

He said the case was also being probed under Section 506 of the same legislation for criminal intimidation.

He urged the public to refrain from uploading any material or making any post on social media related to the probe.

Earlier, a report allegedly made by a retiree about the illegal activities at the centre had gone viral.

The complainant claimed that he had enrolled for a seven-day programme at the centre on April 5 but was surprised to learn that the activities being carried out there were against the country’s laws. He claimed that the activities could be detrimental to the nation’s sovereignty.

He also claimed that the area was closely guarded and participants were not allowed to take photographs.
