Neil Young Cancels Remainder of ‘Love Earth Tour’ with Crazy Horse Due to Illness Hitting ‘A Couple of Us’

Neil Young has some sad news for fans.

On Wednesday (June 26), the 78-year-old musician announced that he was canceling the remainder of his The Love Earth Tour with his longtime backing group Crazy Horse due to an illness hitting “a couple of us” since they last performed in May. Neil did not disclose if he was one of those sick.

The Love Earth Tour has been a great experience for us so far. Great audiences and music. We have had a blast!” Neil and Crazy Horse wrote on their website. “When a couple of us got sick after Detroit’s Pine Knob, we had to stop.”

The last time Neil and the group performed a show was more than a month ago on May 22 at Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan.

“We are still not fully recovered, so sadly our great tour will have a big unplanned break,” the statement continued. “We will try to play some of the dates we miss as time passes when we are ready to rock again! We know many of you made travel plans and apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for your understanding and patience.”

Neil and Crazy Horse concluded, “Health is # 1…. We want to stay and do more shows and more albums for you…. and for for us…. With love and thanks to all of you from Crazy Horse….. Neil, Micah, Ralph and Billy… Love Earth.”

While they didn’t specify how long their timeout will be, their seven shows in Canada in July have been canceled along with the group’s appearances at the Hollywood Bowl, southern California’s Eddie Vedder-driven Ohana Fest, and Kentucky’s Bourbon & Beyond Festival, which were all scheduled to take place in late September, have been canceled.

We wish those sick a speedy recovery.
