Suspect in Nur Farah Kartini’s murder is a cop stationed in Perak, police say

PETALING JAYA: Police have confirmed that the main suspect in the murder of Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah is a policeman.

This was disclosed by both Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan and new Perak police chief Comm Datuk Azizi Mat Aris on Tuesday (July 16).

Comm Azizi said the 26-year-old individual is a lans koperal from the Slim River police station.

“He has been with the police force for about five years.

“He is being investigated by the Selangor police,” he told a press conference in Ipoh after the handing over of duties by outgoing Perak police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri at the state police officers’ mess hall.

“During the investigation by Muallim police, (the suspect) showed where the offence was committed,” he said.

An order was obtained from the court in Hulu Selangor on Tuesday (July 16) to remand the suspect for seven days until July 22.

Nur Farah Kartini was an employee of a rental car company in Tanjung Malim and was reported missing after delivering a rental car to a customer on Wednesday (July 10).

A missing persons report was lodged by her housemate early Thursday (July 11) morning.

The victim was found dead in Felda Gedangsa, Hulu Selangor on Monday (July 15).

Comm Azizi lauded the actions taken by Muallim OCPD Supt Mohd Hasni Mohd Nasir in handling the investigation.

“I am proud of the Muallim OCPD.

“After the missing persons report was lodged, he quickly issued a press release in an effort to locate the victim,” he said, adding that police had been open with the investigation.

On Monday, Comm Hussein confirmed the arrest of a 26-year-old civil servant following the discovery of the body.
