Cops arrest teenager, three others for dangerous motorcycle stunts in Johor

JOHOR BARU: Police here have arrested a 16-year-old and three others for performing dangerous stunts in the Jalan Skudai-Pantai Lido area here.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said the arrests were made during an operation dubbed ‘Ops Samseng’ that was conducted from 5pm until 11pm on Sunday (July 21).

“A total of 56 individuals and 51 motorcycles were inspected; a total of 22 motorcycles were seized under Section 64 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for modifying their exhausts and engines.

“We have also issued 78 summonses for various offences, such as not having a license and modifying vehicle structure,” he said in a statement on Monday (July 22).

On the arrest, ACP Raub said that three men aged between 24 and 30 were caught red-handed performing dangerous stunts on the road that could have harmed other road users.

“A 16-year-old was arrested for using a motorcycle with a fake licence plate,” he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 108(3) of the Road Transport Act.

The case is also being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act for riding in a reckless and dangerous manner.
