Suspect in sodomy case released after complainant withdraws police report

PETALING JAYA: A foreigner who claimed to have been sodomised by a workout partner has withdrawn his police report.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Shahrulnizam Ja’afar said the suspect, a local, was released after the 25-year-old victim withdrew his report.

“We have submitted the investigation paper to the DPP and (the instruction received was) for the case not to proceed further,” he said when contacted on Tuesday (July 23).

It was reported that a local man was detained for allegedly sodomising his workout partner at a condominium here.

ACP Shahrulnizam had said the suspect was detained in Ipoh, Perak by a team from the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters and Selangor state police headquarters at about 11.45am on July 12.

The victim lodged a police report on July 5 claiming he had been sodomised by the man, whom he met at the condominium’s gymnasium in March.

“On July 4, (the victim claimed) the suspect invited him to his condominium unit to talk,” ACP Shahrulnizam had said, adding that the suspect then reportedly took off the victim’s clothes and touched him inappropriately before sodomising him.

He also said the victim claimed he did not shout for help as he did not want his neighbours to learn of the incident.

“The victim received treatment at the University of Malaya Medical Centre.

“Checks by a medical officer found a tear in the victim’s anus. He was allowed to go home once the treatment was completed,” he said.

ACP Shahrulnizam said the case was initially classified under Section 377B of the Penal Code for intercourse against the order of nature.
