“Is This A Gigolo Contest?”: HK Viewers Unhappy About TVB’s Muscle Men Reality Competition
You would think people would enjoy a show which offers them eye candy in the form of jacked hunks, but apparently that’s not something that appeals to viewers in Hong Kong.
Recently, TVB Plus launched their new reality competition Wo Tui De Ye Nan LIVE!, which sees 22 muscular men coming together to compete against each other.
The show is streamed live and is hosted by Hong Kong hosts Paisley Wu, Ho Ming Luk, Fire Lee and Venus Chi.
Viewers can give stickers to the contestants they like in real time and the ones with the least votes would then be eliminated.
The show premiered on Tuesday (Aug 13), and the contestants made their first appearances on stage by sans shirts (of course) and wearing tight denim jeans.
One contestant, Daniel, who is 61 (yes, 61), stood out from the rest.
“Real respect for him to be this fit at 60,” gushed one netizen while another said: “That uncle is as muscular as the younger contestants.”
Most netizens, however, did not fancy the concept behind the show.
“Shows like this make me feel like I’m watching a gigolo show,” complained one netizen while another scoffed: “[Is this] a gigolo contest?”
