5566’s Ex-Manager, 63, Wants To Adopt 19-Year-Old Influencer And Leave Him S$12.3Mil Fortune
But on one condition: The influencer will have to live with Sun Derong, who was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2013, and take care of him till he dies.
Those who follow Taiwanese showbiz might be familiar with the name Sun Derong.
The former celebrity agent is famous for helping to propel Show Luo and noughties boyband 5566 to stardom.
Derong, now 63, gave up the bright lights of showbiz after he was diagnosed with stage three bladder cancer in 2013.
He had to remove his bladder and implant an artificial one to survive.
Over the years, he has struggled with complications from the artificial bladder and requires frequent catheterisation at the hospital.
Derong, who is not married and does not have kids, has repeatedly expressed his desire to adopt a child to fulfil his wish of becoming a father.
Seems like he may have just got his wish.
Earlier this week, 19-year-old influencer and member of Mandopop group Wackyboys, Shao An, shared a video on Instagram where he was made an offer he couldn’t refuse.
In the clip, Derong asks Shao An if he is willing to “put up” with being his son.
In return, Derong will leave Shao An his fortune, which he estimates to be at least NT$300mil (S$12.3mil).
Shao An can use the money to fund his future business ventures — an amount he “could never earn in [his] lifetime”.
The lad was initially quite surprised and expressed that he has always regarded Derong as a father figure.
“No, we have to live together, and you have to take care of me until the end of my life,” said Derong.
Derong added that he would leave his wealth to those he cares about, not his family, because “they already have their own 2,500 sq ft luxury homes”.
It didn’t take Shao An long to consider the offer, and he exclaimed: “You’re giving NT$300 million all at once? Give it to me!”
