MAG: All necessary flight cancellations for August, September completed

PETALING JAYA: All the necessary flight cancellations for August and September have been completed, says Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG).

“Rest assured, all other flights in August and September remain unaffected and will continue to operate as scheduled,” it said in a statement posted to Facebook.

“We are fully committed to ensuring your travel plans proceed smoothly and without disruption,” it said.

On Aug 24, MAG had announced that it would drop some routes served by Malaysia Airlines, Firefly and Amal until December as it looked to address some recent “operational difficulties”.

MAG group managing director Datuk Captain Izham Ismail said the group was working closely with its aircraft and engine manufacturers and a wide range of suppliers to “comprehensively address supply chain and technical issues”.

Capt Izham also apologised for the disruptions that took place this week involving Malaysia Airlines, Firefly and Amal services.

According to AeroRoute, Malaysia Airlines would temporarily cut the frequency of flights to 13 international destinations within its route network.

MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong had earlier questioned the frequent incidents of emergency landings and technical issues involving Malaysia Airlines.

The former transport minister pointed out that Malaysia Airlines has encountered several incidents involving its flights since the beginning of 2023.
