About 1.5 million civil service job applications expected for 2024

SEREMBAN: The public sector is expected to receive approximately 1.5 million job applications by the end of 2024, says Public Services Commission chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Jailani Muhamed Yunus.

He attributed the increase over last year’s applications to the greater recruitment processes efficiency and the introduction of the new remuneration system for civil servants.

“We anticipate that by the end of this year, applications will increase between 20% and 30% compared to last year (2023), which saw a total of 1.2 million applications.

“Following the Prime Minister’s (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) announcement of the new SSPA (Public Service Remuneration System), there has been a significant increase in applications.

“Therefore, we need a more effective screening method to ensure that those selected are truly of high quality,” he said after opening the Seremban SPA Interview Centre (PTD) at UTC Negri Sembilan@Angsana Seremban here on Tuesday (Oct 15).

Ahmad Jailani said the Seremban SPA PTD offers facilities are more accessible for candidate interviews.

He said that the centre provides Internet facilities for candidates to take the Public Service Examination Entry (PSEE) Psychometric Test and offers consultations regarding the Public Services Commission Job Registration System (SPA9) and public service recruitment.

“SPA hopes that this facility will serve as an effective platform for recruiting qualified candidates to serve in the public sector,” he said.

Ahmad Jailani stated that the increase in centres was in line with SPA’s commitment to enhancing the efficiency of the civil servant recruitment process and ensuring the comfort and convenience of candidates during their interviews.

He said that SPA would open another interview centre in UTC Sibu, Sarawak, by the end of the year to provide comfort for candidates in the state. – Bernama
