Johor cops arrest babysitter over alleged abuse of two-month-old girl
ISKANDAR PUTERI: The police have arrested a babysitter in connection with the alleged abuse of a two-month-old baby girl.
Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan said the 45-year-old woman was arrested on Oct 6 to assist in the investigation.
“We received a report on Oct 5 about a two-month-old baby girl who was found in a weak condition when her parents picked her up from the babysitter’s house.
“The baby was rushed to Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) following the incident, where a CT (computed tomography) scan revealed that she had suffered internal bleeding,” he said in a statement.
He added that the case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(A) of the Child Act 2001 (for ill-treatment, neglect, abandonment, or exposure of a child to physical or emotional harm).
If found guilty, the suspect could face a jail sentence of up to 20 years, a fine of up to RM50,000, or both.
