Member of Pahang royalty among five charged with injuring man with knife

KUANTAN: Five individuals, including a member of the Pahang royalty, have been charged in the Magistrate’s Court here on Thursday (Nov 7) with allegedly injuring a man with a knife in June.

The accused, Tengku Eddie Akasya Tengku Abd Rahman, 20, Nik Norhisham Affendi Nik Mohd Zani, 39, Mohd Fouzi Md Nur, 44, Mohd Taufik Daud, 44, and Khairul Azhar Rosli, 38, pleaded not guilty and claimed trial.

According to the charge sheet, all accused were charged with jointly injuring 44-year-old Alias Awang using a knife, which caused the victim to suffer an injury to his right thigh.

The accused are alleged to have committed the offence at a horse stable along Jalan Teluk Sisek here on June 6.

All the accused were charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same code.

The defendants were released on bail of RM7,000 each, and 11 December has been set for the next mention of the case.

Previously, media reports indicated that a man, who is also a construction and maintenance worker, claimed he was injured in an attack by a group of individuals, including a member of the royalty.

In the incident, the victim was reported to have sustained a thigh injury requiring several stitches and suffered additional cuts on his leg.

The incident caught the attention of the Crown Prince of Pahang, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, who called for the police to investigate the allegations promptly.
