Major new features expected on the next-generation Apple Watch
Apple is preparing to launch a number of new features on the future generation of its connected watches. Among the new additions, integration of satellite connectivity on the Apple Watch Ultra and presence of a blood pressure monitor, designed to raise awareness of high blood pressure, are the most eagerly awaited.
The next-generation Apple Watch promises several interesting new features, according to Bloomberg. In fact, it’s the Apple Watch Ultra, the brand’s top-of-the-range model, that is set to be the very first connected watch capable of sending text messages, off-grid, as early as 2025, thanks to a fleet of satellites operated by Globalstar.
Technologically speaking this is the same innovation that was introduced in 2022 on the iPhone 14 for emergencies. This means it will be possible to stay in touch with your contacts wherever you are, even in areas not usually covered by cellphone service.
Another new feature will detect high blood pressure, just like a traditional blood pressure monitor. This is in addition to temperature measurement, heart rate monitoring, sleep apnea detection, electrocardiogram and blood oxygen level calculation.
In any case, this reflects Apple’s determination to position its products as genuine health tools, and to outdo its competitors in this area, starting with Samsung.
