Japanese Show Mistakes Korean Star IU, 31, For Mum Of Riize Member Anton, 20, Angering Fans

Fans of K-pop boy group Riize will know member Anton, 20, is a second-generation star.

His mum is ‘90s actress Shim Hye Jin. His dad is music producer and composer Yoon Sang.

Growing up, Anton became acquainted with many artistes due to their connections.

One of them is singer-actress IU, whom he’s known for 14 years.

Anton had previously shared a throwback photo they took together when he was a child.

That photo recently went viral after a Japanese variety show featured the pic in its show on Riize.

Producers mistook IU for Anton’s mum and identified her as his “mother” in the caption.

Netizens shared screenshots of the blunder, criticising the TV station for making such an outrageous mistake without proper verification.

IU’s fans also expressed their disbelief.

There were comments like “This is a programme that cannot be trusted at all”,  “They actually mistook 31-year-old IU for 20-year-old Anton’s mother”, and “Both of them look so young”.

There were also some who laughed it off, saying IU might find the mistake amusing and that everyone should not take it too seriously.

Japan’s Fuji TV, which broadcasts the programme, has not issued an apology or response.
