Police detain suspect in connection with Ipoh man’s death
PETALING JAYA: Police have detained an individual to assist in the investigation of the discovery of a local man’s body in a bedroom at a private treatment centre in Pasir Puteh, Ipoh, on Tuesday (Dec 31).
Ipoh District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad, said his team received information regarding the 25-year-old victim from a member of the public at 7.54am.
“Initial police investigations at the scene revealed that the victim was found lying in the bedroom, with no signs of foul play on his body.
“The victim was sent to the Forensic Department of Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB), and a post-mortem determined the cause of death to be abdominal injuries caused by a blunt object,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (Jan 1), according to Sinar Harian.
He said that based on investigations, police have detained a 31-year-old local man.
“Checks found that the suspect has no prior criminal record. A remand order was obtained for six days, up until next Monday, to assist with the investigation.
“The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder,” he added.
The police urged anyone with information regarding the case to come forward and assist with the investigation by contacting Investigating Officer, Assistant Superintendent Fadli Ahmad, at 019-2500019 or their nearest police station.
