Hari Raya: Rapid Rail to provide additional trains if congestion occurs
KUALA LUMPUR: Rapid Rail, a subsidiary of Prasarana Malaysia Bhd (Prasarana), will provide additional trains if there is unexpected congestion during Hari Raya Aidilfitri to ensure a smooth journey for passengers.
Prasarana chief operating officer Amir Hamdan said they will carry out daily monitoring of the passenger and congestion situations on the platforms and outside the stations to determine the need for additional trains.
“So far, based on train usage analysis, there is no need to extend operations after midnight.
“However, we will always be prepared with immediate response in case of a surge in passengers,” he said after distributing iftar meals to the staff of the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) here Wednesday (March 26).
He said the Rapid Rail Operations Control Centre (OCC) will be in direct communication should there be a sudden surge of passengers, thus enabling additional trans to be provided at suitable times.
On its contribution of iftar meals to Bernama, Amir said it was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, which it has been carrying out for the past seven years during Ramadan.
A total of 300 packs of nasi arab and delicacies were distributed today to strengthen the ties between Prasarana and Bernama.
“We are happy to be able to share the meal and visit the Bernama staff, who work tirelessly, regardless of time. This is also in line with the spirit of Ramadan, which encourages the practice of giving,” he said.
Also present at the meal distribution event was News Services Executive Editor Mohd Haikal Mohd Isa. – Bernama
