Since then, the actor has faced criticism from netizens, even being blasted by the international media outlet TMZ. Since the initial reports, Kim Soo Hyun has also dealt with financial impacts on his career, including canceled brand ambassadorships.

His role in the upcoming Disney+ production, Knock Off, also seems likely to be affected and will result in massive fines.

Despite the negative reception, one aspect of Kim Soo Hyun’s presence has surprisingly increased.

The actor’s Instagram account currently boasts over 20 million followers, though this is a decrease from before the scandal broke. Over the last 30 days, he has lost over 1 million followers.

However, on April 1, a day following the press conference, his Instagram account recorded a positive uptick in followers. The total number of followers and unfollowers combined to create the sum, meaning his new followers outpaced the number unfollowing him for the first time in over 20 days.

With increasing evidence released from both sides, it is hard to say if this is the beginning of a change in public opinion toward the actor.
