Motorcyclist arrested for violent armed robberies in Kulai
KULAI: A 40-year-old motorcyclist has been arrested for robbing and injuring two women at different locations here.
Kulai OCPD Asst Comm Tan Seng Lee said the first armed robbery took place behind a restaurant in Jalan Seri Putra here, where the suspect was believed to have hacked a 52-year-old Indonesian woman using a parang before fleeing with her valuables on Friday (April 4).
A witness to the incident reported it at 8.26am.
“The victim received injuries on her left arm and received emergency treatment at Hospital Temenggong Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (April 8).
Shortly after the first incident, the suspect was believed to have robbed another woman at Jalan Impian Senai Utama, Taman Impian Senai at 8.45am.
“The suspect was said to have approached the woman with the blade and told her to hand over her valuables,” he said, adding that the suspect did not hurt the victim after taking her belongings.
ACP Tan said a police team found the suspect at a gas station on Jalan Skudai-Gelang Patah at 10.05am the same day. The suspect tested positive for methamphetamine.
The suspect also possesses 15 prior criminal records, said ACP Tan, adding that he has been remanded until April 11 to aid in an investigation under Section 392/397 and Section 394 of the Penal Code, respectively, for armed robbery and voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery.
