NCT’s Doyoung, Mark And Jungwoo’s Barefaced Visuals Attacked By Netizens

Many came to their defense.

NCT‘s Doyoung, Mark, and Jungwoo were recently criticized over their barefaced visuals.

In a viral forum post, a netizen shared screenshots from a video featuring the three members. The video appeared during the idols’ downtown, featuring them dressed more plainly, wearing snapbacks and going without any make-up.

It is not unheard of for the members to go out without make-up, and are often praised for their visuals on and off stage.

However, many netizens had less than positive comments about the three NCT members, even referencing beauty standards placed on female idols in comparison.

• I mean, come on… bringing up pics where it’s obviously no makeup and zero styling? That’s just unfair.
• Must be nice being a guy, huh? Life’s so much easier—meanwhile, girls get ripped apart over every tiny little detail. Like, the mid-face length, leg shape, waistline… literally everything.
• Seriously though, girl idols get hated on for gaining just a little weight—people used to bash Umji just for not being pretty enough. But how do male idols with visuals like that even debut in the first place?

On the other hand, many defended the idols, calling out those making critical comments about their visuals.

• Like, what the… do people have insanely high standards for what “good-looking” means or something? If there were guys who looked like NCT around me, I’d be out here falling for them like crazy… Don’t go saying idols are some whole different dimension or whatever… Most of the people talking crap wouldn’t even be able to say a word in front of them—just keyboard warriors holed up in their rooms. Is throwing personal attacks really that fun for you all? And then they’ll probably go around mocking the fandom name like it’s some joke. You won’t believe it, but I’m from another fandom. Stop posting garbage like this. Why is crap like this even at the top..
• I’m a ReVeluv, but after going to SMTOWN, I saw Jungwoo in real life and instantly became a fan. The photos were ones I kept just for myself as proof I was actually there, but he was so handsome I ended up taking a bunch in a row. There were a few other insanely good-looking ones too, and I became a fan of them on the spot
• At that One Asia concert in Busan a while back, when NCT 127’s faces showed up on the big screen, the audience apparently let out a huge “wow” because they were so good-looking

Idols being comfortable enough to be seen without styling or makeup is a good thing, and hopefully Doyoung, Mark and Jungwoo continue to feel this way!
