Controversial actor Kim Soo Hyun’s upcoming K-Drama Knock-Off has reportedly been put on hold indefinitely, throwing one of Disney+ Korea’s most expensive projects into uncertainty.

According to a recent SPOTV News report, the production team has informed both cast and crew that filming will be paused without a set date for resumption. The K-Drama’s release schedule has also been delayed, with no updates on when it might air.

Knock-Off had drawn attention for its massive scale, with a reported production budget of ₩60.0 billion KRW (about $42.0 million USD). Kim Soo Hyun’s fee alone was said to have reached a whopping ₩9.00 billion KRW (about $6.29 million USD). However, the project has now been derailed following ongoing allegations tied to the actor’s relationship with late actress Kim Sae Ron.

Actor Kim Soo Hyun’s Scandal: All The Fallout So Far

Amidst his controversy, the production team is reportedly discussing breach-of-contract penalties. Industry speculation suggests the fee could be as high as ₩180 billion KRW (about $126 million USD) — seemingly three times the show’s budget — but no official figure has been confirmed.

Knock-Off was planned as an 18-episode drama about a man whose life is upended by the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis, ultimately rising to power in the counterfeit goods market. Kim Soo Hyun was set to star alongside Jo Bo Ah.

With the actor’s situation still unresolved, the future of Knock-Off remains uncertain as the production company waits to see how the legal process unfolds.
